Amazon just announced a major change to how reviews are shared across product variations, and this will directly impact star ratings, review counts, and conversion for many listings.

🔍 What’s changing?
Starting February 12, 2026, reviews will no longer be shared across variations with significant functional differences. Reviews will only carry over when differences are considered minor.

âś… Reviews WILL still be shared for:
Color or pattern variations
Sizes with the same function (e.g. Queen vs King bedding)
Pack size / quantity
Secondary scent variations (when scent isn’t the main feature)
Same product type with different model fitments (e.g. phone cases)

❌ Reviews will NOT be shared when variations differ in ways that affect functionality or specs — which means:
Lower review counts per variation
Possible drop in star ratings
Greater importance of variation structure & listing accuracy

đź“… Rollout will be gradual by category between Feb 12 and May 31, 2026, with 30-day notice by email before your ASINs are affected.

đź›  What sellers should do now:
Audit your variation themes in Manage All Inventory
Ensure variations truly match Amazon’s guidelines
Fix incorrect variation structures (e.g. quantity vs color misuse)
Prepare for review redistribution impact on performance

This change is clearly aimed at customer trust and return reduction — but sellers who don’t prepare may feel the impact fast.

If you sell on Amazon and want a second set of eyes on your variations, feel free to reach out.

Happy to help — no pitch, just clarity.
